Bing instant answers are answers to common questions related to movie times and places, currency conversion, weather forecasts, and many other items. Try searching for "weather" and a useful forecast should appear at he top of the search results - that's a Bing instant answer!
Google produces a similar set of results. But unfortunately, for me, both produce results for a nearby town, not for my town! So both providers need to improve their location specific search.
Bing instant answers are provided for:
- Sports - check the scores from the latest test series, or whatever cricket match is on now, simply by typing "cricket" into bing. Good to see American companies helping us Brits keep the score in our strange games. That is cricket, old chap.
- Finance - enter a company name or stock symbol and get back some (hopefully) useful information.
- Calculate - try (pi*3^2 or whatever mathematical expression takes your fancy.
- Tracking - type in the shipping company and tracking number.
- Dictionary - 'define ubiquitous', or your own hard-word choice.
- ... much more, experiment!
