Bing Maps provides maps in conjunction with Microsoft's Bing search engine.

Bing maps - a first look

To find the top-level bing maps interface go to the bing.com homepage and click on Maps in the left navigation pane. This might reveal a map of your country, as bing maps has some ability to find the location of some users. In my case, this is Bing Maps UK.

The kinds of Bing maps available

There are three main map views available in the Map menu:

• Road - standard road map.
• Automatic - Switches to the best map style on zooming.
• Bird's eye - angled photographic views as if seen by a bird flying past a building at from roof level and above. Nw also incorporates aerial satellite views.

Different countries may have more specialised map types. For instance, Bing Maps UK adds:

• London Street Map - Detailed maps and road maps for Greater London.
• Ordnance Survey Map - detailed map of geographic features for country walkers, mountain climbers, etc.

Features and options 

At the bottom left of the map you have access to a 'welcome' screen, driving directions, 'see your places', map printing, 'share your map', and other options.
