IKEA vacancies

IKEA vacancies can be accessed on IKEA's website, or third party vacancies websites.

The IKEA vacancies website provides a 'fit quiz' to see if you are fit to be an IKEA employee. Like most people, you will probably think "Of course I'm fit, anyone can sell furniture!" So the secret is not to see if you are fit for IKEA vacancies, but (as you are fit!) to see what responses IKEA want from their potential employees at interview. You might have to do the 'fit quiz' several times. First time, give the answers that are really true to your character. If you are declared 'unfit', try again giving the answers you think they want. If you are declared unfit again, keep on trying the quiz until you are declared 'fit' (according to them!) Don't get discouraged by the quiz. If you are a loner who prefers spending his or her time reading Tolstoy, then you might be placed amongst the unfit. This would, of course, be ridiculous. Anyone can sell furniture. So ignore IKEA if they declare you to be unfit--find out their idea of fitness so you can give them the 'right answer' at interview.

The IKEA vacancies website section even provides a summary of what IKEA thinks 'Swedishness' is. Of course Swede's are, really, as various as any other nationality. So you need to read this to find out what particular kind of 'Swede' IKEA wants. For instance, they say they want, simpleness, equality and openness. So don't turn up for interview in your Aston Martin, stress how much you like collaborating with people, and how you don't like keeping matters to yourself. And so on... Try to be an IKEAn Swede, at least during the interview!

The 'Swedishness' section is quite lengthy, but it's worth going through, as you might pick up some useful tips for the interview. The same goes for the 'work areas' and 'co-worker' sections.

The IKEA vacancies can (finally!) be accessed through the 'Apply Now' section. This allows you to view all current opportunities and search on specific criteria to find IKEA jobs that match your interests. Also: look for IKEA vacancies on general job search sites.

Before applying for IKEA vacancies, learn about the store, and not just online. Visit the store and try to get some impression about what the shopping experience is like. Ask yourself some questions: what do I like about IKEA furniture? What do I like about the store layout? And so on... Using personal experience you can gather many useful things to say at interview.
