Waitrose Jobs

Section Manager and Assistant Section Manager

Prospective section managers join the Waitrose Management Development Programme, which builds on experience through tailored training1.

If you already manage people, then you could join Waitrose as a Section Manager Trainee.

A Section Manager is responsible for running a section of a Waitrose supermarket. This, of course, means leading the team in that section, but it also involves ordering stock and creating displays.

Key aspects of performing as a section manager are monitoring how the team handles customer service, and ensuring that targets are met.

A prospective Assistant Section Manager must also have experience  of supervising people in a fast-moving, customer-focused environment.

When approaching Waitrose, be positive, apply for a Section Manager post if you have any experience at all in supervising other people. You may not have the experience to tackle such a post, but let Waitrose decide that. As a consolation, if you fail to get a Section Manager post, they may offer you an Assistant Section Manager position.
