MapQuest UK (mapquest.co.uk) is great for basic street maps and driving directions, but don't make MapQuest UK your only source of maps and directions. Compare MapQuest with other sites, like Streetmap UK,  Google Maps and Multimap.

MapQuest UK (mapquest.co.uk) is just one of many map sites. You should always check your proposed journey using several map providers, just in case one sends you the wrong way.

• Using MapQuest UK (mapquest.co.uk) to find an address is easy. On the home page, simply enter the building number, street name, or postal code. You may not need to enter all this information, but try to enter as much as you can.

MapQuest UK (mapquest.co.uk) is straightforward for foreigners to use, if you understand basic English. If not, you should use the MapQuest site for your own country. 

• If you search for MapQuest in Google in the UK then the mapquest.co.uk site will probably appear at the top of the search listings. 

So if you want to see the MapQuest site for your own country and language, search for it in your own language. For instance, if you are French search for mapquest francais not mapquest france.  If you search for mapquest france you still end up on mapquest.co.uk because Google makes the sensible assumption that if you searched in English then an English language site should be returned.

• United Kingdom consists of several countries, that is, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, and The Channel Islands. Great Britain includes England, Scotland, and Wales.

Don't bother searching for separate sites for these countries, mapquest.co.uk handles them all. Americans users of MapQuest UK (mapquest.co.uk) should note that the UK doesn't have "states". The nearest equivalents are "counties". Also, in the UK, a ZIP code is called a postal code.

2 Jun 2012 - If you enter your address as the starting point, in any mapping software, the directions often tell you to drive down a surprising route. MapQuest now allows you to get directions from any road you like. You can also enter your vehicle type and get an estimated fuel cost. MapQuest will provide you multiple routes, so you can determine if taking the scenic route is really worth the cost.

30 Oct 2010 - Until recently, MapQuest only allowed you to plan journeys between twelve European countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark,  France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. But now it covers many more. So if you dismissed MapQuest previously for being too limited for European travel, give it another try.
