Generic Search Terms

The majority of consumers make purchases after searching only on generic search terms. 

More than 80% percent of consumers start their search process with a generic search term, and only a  small percentage refine their search with a product-specific query.

For consumer electronics, only 15% percent of conversions result from a direct search session. Among conversions, 38 percent took place within 5 to 12 weeks.
