Improve Google Rank
By Google Rank we mean the position of a web page in the Google Search engine.
That is, if you appear in the third position on the first page of a Google search your Google Rank is 3. Google PageRank and Google keyword optimization combine to give the Google Rank. Google PageRank is determined by the number and quality of links to a page.
Google PageRank and Improving Google Rank
PageRank technology calculates google rank by interpreting a link from page A to page B as a vote by page A for page B. Links from any internal or external page to your page are backlinks. Votes cast by more important pages improve your rank.
General Tips to Improve Google Rank
To improve google rank you must:
- Focus on one key phrase per page.
- Keep your page short, between one and two screen lengths is fine.
- Look at the 'main competition', i.e. the pages appearing on the first couple of pages of a google search for your keyword.
- Make your page more informative about the key phrase than your competition.
- Make sure your text is better optimised than that of the main competition.
- Do not use frames.
- Add Google AdSense to your page, then Google will find you in short order and 'if you scratch their back...'
- Link back to other pages on your site using your domain name Google may then treat your backlinks the same as external backlinks.
- Add a page a day then you will be visited frequently by fresh Google bots and have fresh pages to experiment with.
- Make no duplicate pages or you will be penalised.
Google Searching
Google searching involves searching for keywords and key phrases in key parts of your web page. These are:
- Page title - less than 80 characters long.
- Meta description - should include your key phrase twice.
- Page text - should appear at least once in your headers, several times in your paragraphs, once in bold (improve google rank), once in italic (improve google rank), in image names, in image alt tags and in links.
Meta keywords - not used by google, add your key phrase and a few others for other search engines. Don't spend more than a minute on this. Optimise for Google first, and the others if you have time or feel the need.
Keyword density - Google rates this very highly, so give this serious consideration.
