Multimap London

Multimap.com are based in London, making it an obvious first choice for finding maps of London. But there are other options worth investigating. The main Multimap London alternative is Google Maps. Google have made significant inroads into the UK, and this applies especially to the Google Maps service.

But Google have upset many UK natives by getting up-close and personal in making their street level maps. For instance, some of the good citizens of Milton Keynes confronted Google photographers about the close-up shots being taken of their houses and told them, "Not down my street mate!" Multimap employees must be smiling about this. Probably because they are UK natives themselves, they have managed to avoid the invasion of personal space that is so frowned upon in the UK.

Google have had more success in London, where Google's photographic car is less likely to be noticed amongst the general hullabaloo.

Both Multimap and Google now offer draggable driving directions. This allows you to alter the route between fixed start and end points by dragging the line of the route with your mouse. Useful and fun! Driving round London is complicated, so a feature that allows you to find alternative routes is very useful.

RAC maps are provided by Multimap, but AA maps are provided by Google. So the main motoring organisations in the UK differ about which company provides the best maps. The simple answer for you, about which to use, is: use both!
