MultiMap maps on Yell, RAC and other sites

It is well worth investigating different sites showing Multimap UK maps, depending on your needs. When looking for businesses, yell is a good choice.

The RAC site is anther great site must, which adds lots of traffic data to the Multimap maps that it shows.

But if you are wanting to compare raw maps or driving directions, then it is best compare Multimap directly with other raw map providers, like Google Maps and MapQuest.

But note that the AA uses Google Maps, so if you want to compare the RAC and AA then you can go directly to their own sites and compare their mapping facilities and added-value offerings. Because they use different map providers you get a pretty different experience, so it's worth looking at these in detail if your are thinking of joining one or the other.

So, if you are planning a difficult journey, how should you proceed? First, I think, it's a mistake to look at the raw data from only one site, even one as good as Multimap UK. To avoid mapping errors, and to find all the raw data out there, I would always get details from the three main map sites (Multimap, MapQuest, Google Maps) and then supplement them with useful third parties. For instance, looking at accident updates from the RAC and AA would be a bare minimum.

Just typing your destination address into bing and Google can be very useful, such a search may throw up travel tips, hotel recommendations, restaurant reviews, or other useful items.
